Feel free to customize your smash burgers with different toppings and condiments to suit your taste. Enjoy your delicious griddle-cooked smash burgers!
Preheat your griddle over medium-high heat until it's hot.
Divide the ground beef into portions, about 1/4 pound each. Roll each portion into a loose ball
Season one side of each ball with salt and pepper.
Place a ball of beef onto the hot griddle, seasoned side down.
Use a sturdy spatula or a burger press to firmly smash the beef ball down onto the griddle. Press down until the patty is thin, about 1/4 inch thick. This smashing process helps create a crispy crust.
Season the top side of the patty with salt and pepper
Allow the patty to cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges start to turn brown and crispy.
Flip the patty using the spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
If desired, place a slice of American cheese on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking and allow it to melt
Remove the patty from the griddle and let it rest for a minute.
Repeat the process with the remaining portions of ground beef
While the patties are resting, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the griddle.
Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun and adding your preferred condiments and toppings
Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger.
Serve the smash burgers immediately while they're hot and enjoy!
