If you're looking for the ultimate game day snack, party platter centerpiece, or just a crowd-pleasing weeknight meal, these Tri Tip Sliders check every box. Smoked low and slow on the Masterbuilt Gravity Series® 1150, tender tri tip is sliced and layered with melty Colby Jack cheese on soft Hawaiian rolls, then finished with a buttery glaze for that golden slider top everyone loves. They’re rich, savory, and ridiculously easy to make.

The Gravity Series® 1150 gives you charcoal flavor with digital precision. Its fan-forced airflow keeps a consistent temperature, making it ideal for smoking tri tip to the perfect doneness. With its large cooking space and reliable heat, you can cook the meat low and slow, then finish your sliders with a melty, buttery blast of heat—all on one grill.

Instructions

  1. 01

Set your Masterbuilt Gravity Series® 1150 to 300°F. Allow the grill to come to temp and stabilize.

  2. 02

Coat the tri tip generously with your favorite all-purpose beef rub. Be sure to season all sides for maximum flavor.

  3. 03

Place the tri tip on the middle rack and smoke until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (for medium-rare). This typically takes around 60–75 minutes depending on thickness.

  4. 04

Remove the tri tip from the smoker and let it rest for 10 minutes. Slice thinly across the grain for tender, juicy pieces.

  5. 05

Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and set aside the tops. Layer the bottom half with sliced tri tip and Colby Jack cheese. Replace the top layer of buns and brush the tops with melted butter.

  6. 06

Place the sliders back on the smoker and heat until the cheese is melted and the tops are slightly golden (about 10–15 minutes).

  7. 07

Remove from the grill, slice into individual sliders, and serve hot. These are perfect for dipping, stacking, or devouring straight from the tray.

MASTER IT.

There's an app for that.
