Hushpuppies

 

 

Ingredients

Crisco Pure Peanut Oil for frying

1 ½ cups Martha White or White Lily Yellow Cornmeal

2/3 cup Pillsbury Best All Purpose Flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 ½ tsps salt

1 tsp garlic powder

2 tsps onion powder

½ tsp sugar

1 cup buttermilk

2 eggs

2 green onions, finely chopped

 

 

Directions

POUR peanut oil into deep fryer; heat to 375 degrees F.

 

MIX cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar in a medium bowl.  Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

 

DROP batter by tablespoonfuls into hot oil.  Fry a few hushpuppies at a time, 5 to 6 minutes, or until deeply golden brown.  Remove with slotted spoon.  Drain on paper towels; keep warm. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve immediately.
